Lisa Smith

Head Coach

 

Lisa started a two year Apprenticeship in 2002 and became an Assistant Coach in 2004. She qualified as Lead Coach in 2007, was awarded NGB BCCMA Club Coach Level 2 and the title of Master Grade 5 with NSCW  in 2013. Lisa was the Assistant Coach in Kungfu & Gymnastics at Eton College from 2002 to 2007 and has run classes in Telford since April 2008. She also teaches adults and children with disabilities through I Can 2 Sport and Leisure. She performed for the Queens Jubilee in 2002 and 2012. She gained first place in forms at 2nd Chin Woo Championships, silver and bronze international, and bronze national championships, as well as ISKA National Champion 2014. Lisa is a volunteer Judge for WAKO, ISKA and KWON.

Mark Smith

Level 2 Lead Coach January 2017

 

Mark joined the club in January 2016. As he had sports leadership qualifications he decided to do our coaches education program and is now delivering classes at schools, our mainstream activities as well as Team Leader for the Clubs Projects. He has previous experience in teaching PE and working with special needs groups. He volunteers as the treasurer, and support students who need extra one to one.

Lynn Phillips

BCCMA Club Coach Level 2 - 2013

 

Lynn joined the club on an Apprenticeship in 2011 after seeing the advert in the job centre. Having achieved a Black Belt in Karate and worked as a teaching assistant, Lynn thought this would be a fantastic career opportunity. Subsequently, Lynn qualified as a Yoga Instructor and now teaches Health, Stretch & Relaxation using Tai Chi and Yoga techniques as well as coaching Kungfu & Sanshou.

Olga Lindsay

Lead Coach - July 2016

 

Olga joined the club with her family in October 2014. Originally it was recreactionally, but after some time, her daughter became World Champion and as Olga has been assisting her in the classes and at home, she decided to put her skills to use and become a Volunteer Lead Coach and Assistant Account for the club.

Ben Goh

BCCMA Level 2 Club Coach 2013

 

Ben joined the club to further his Knowledge in KungFu, already a Black Sash with a different club. Upon gaining his Green Sash in Chin Woo, he decided to travel to Epsom to take his Coaching Exam and volunteer with the club. In 2016, he started to learn Lion Dance.

Gavin Hurley

BCCMA Level 2 Club Coach 2013 

 

Gavin Joined the club in 2012 to make new friends and get fit. Gav has Asperger's and he found that after a short while at the club, his confidence improved and he was starting to lose some of his tendancies i.e shuffling from side to side and his frustrations. He found that learning routines helped with his co-ordination, balance and memory. Gavin now volunteers at the club and in schools and finds the no-pressure approach from his colleagues really helpful in life and achieving his goals.

Lydia Toland

BCCMA Club Coach 2013

 

Lydia is currently training in Sanshou and is a Committee Member.

Aimee King

Assistant Coach December 2016

 

Aimee has a black belt in Taikwondo and currently supports our adult students. She is waiting for her DBS so she can work with children and has recenlty passed her Assistant Coach Qualificaiton.

Dan Thompson

BCCMA Asssistant Coach 2014 

Lead Coach practical compled 2016 (awaiting theory exam to complete) 

 

Dan joined the club in January 2014 following 8 weeks work experience with the job centre. He is currently working towards his Club Coach Qualification.

Stuart Whiston
Support Coach for TCW and Lead Coach at Telford Fight Factory 2017

 

Previous Police Officer with 30 years boxing experience. 3 Years in Muay Thai. 

Looking to teach Boxing classes in 2018.

Nikki Lane

Lead Coach November 2017

 

Nikki joined the club in 2016 following 8 weeks work experience. She completed her Assistant Coach Qualification in January and has recently qualified as an Lead Coach with TCW and Modern Close Quarter Combatives Self Defence. Nikki is in charge of Arts & Crafts as well as helping in class, admin and funding. She is in charge of 4 after school clubs and is looking at setting up Youth Club and Self Defence classes. 

Rune Corinaldi

Lead Coach November 2017

 

Rune joined the club in 2009 and was on our Squad performing all over Telford. He has taken part in many routine competitions and is looking to progress to sparring competition. Rune is the lead coach at Randlay Community Centre and supports other classes. He is hoping to open squad training for performance and competition in 2018. 

Trevor Cross

Support Volunteer November 2017

 

Trevor joined the club in 2017 with his son. He helps in mainstream classes. He has taught SanShou at a previous club and is now working towards his coaching qualfications. He is also interested in Strategy and planning for a new full time centre of excellence. 

Nigel Luke

Support Volunteer 2017

 

Nigel joined the club in 2017. After watching his son train for 8 years and being very good at putting on sanshou wraps, he was asked if we could get him a DBS check to help with putting childrens PPE on ready for sparring. Next thing, Nigel was supporting in class, doing his own training and grading. 

Gemma Marchant

Support Volunteer 2017

 

Gemma is a volunteer mum and helps with admin, support in class, committee meeting and is interested in becoming an Assistant Coach. Her son is TCW English Champion and her husband also does SanShou so it really is all about family. Gemma is also a Bikeability Coach for Telford & Wrekin Council. 

Adam Hartley

Adam takes part in Tai Chi and is now supporting in after school clubs. 

Shawn Cartwright

Support IT Volunteer 2017

 

Shawn joined the club through an 8 week sanshou course in August. He is now supporting the clubs IT and is continuing to take part in SanShou.
